this guy!

I did this sketch based on Irving Penn's photograph of Giorgio de Chirico, because I thought he had a pretty good face. The likeness isn't all that accurate but I got a fun little drawing out of it either way. Hey now!

rose red teaser!

Hello, devoted followers! Here's another teaser of my finished painting for the About Face show, titled "Rose Red." The show opens January 13th at WWA Gallery in Culver City. I'll post the web flyer soon. I'm pretty happy with how this piece turned out, and from what I've seen so far the rest of the show looks killer too... It's one not to miss!

on the easel...

Hiya, here's a work in progress shot of my newest painting! this one is for the About Face show at WWA Gallery in Culver City, which is all about my favorite thing ever, portraiture. It opens mid-January, I'll post more info and a flyer when the time is drawing near. I'm pretty excited about this painting, I'm trying some new things and putting a lot of time into it, which hopefully will show in the final.
also, it's weird how just one wrong brushstroke can throw off an entire face... I've been doing touchups on this mug for about three days. alllllmost there. more soon!

HELP SAVE THE WILDLIFE WAYSTATION!!!

The Wildlife Waystation is in financial peril and desperately needs donations!! They are currently facing extinction, which would mean euthanizing hundreds of exotic animals, including my favorite one-eyed tiger Mongar, featured above. Help feed the tigers, lions, ligers, leopards, panthers, bears, wolves, hyenas, monkeys, llamas, and all the other amazing creatures housed at the Waystation by donating here.

Any amount helps! Do it!!

I didn't feel like sleeping so I did this instead. It's a master copy but for the life of me I can't find the name of the artist that painted the original... Anyone?

Ok... zzzz
