chompers!

ain't he a little cutie?! there's nothing like a decapitated fox head mounted on the wall to keep you company through those long nights of painting.
made of sculpey, mounted on wood, painted with acrylic.

  3. Chompers is awesome. Certainly better than the "real" thing mounted on a plaque.

  4. thanks guys! Lynn, I saw a real taxidermy fox head mounted on a plaque in an antique store but couldn't afford it... so instead I just went ahead and made my own, with improvements!

  5. How big is Chompers? He's fantastic and a wickedly handsome fox. Sly as they come.

  6. the board that he's mounted on is just a bit under 9x12. I haven't measured him yet, but I'd guessing the muzzle extends about a foot from the wall, maybe a little less.

  12. How did you paint the inside of the mouth?
    It's Foxtastic!

  13. thanks everybody!
funny you should ask about the mouth... I was so excited for Chompers to get teeth that I glued them all in before painting the inside of the mouth. big mistake. I ended up having to spraypaint the whole muzzle with the dark red color to get all the nooks and crannies painted, then go back and paint each tooth individually back to white. I learned my lesson for sure.

May I ask; What did you use to give chompers that nice gloss finish? Regular old gloss medium? Thanks!
