moleskine final

Here's the final of the moleskine drawing I was working on the other day. A friend recently gave me this sweet oval-ish frame for it to go in. I've been really into frames lately.
Happy Sunday!

on the drawing table

I'm back from SDCC with an urge to make something awesome every day. or at least die trying. So, here's day one. I'll get a nice clean image of this tomorrow, but for now... sleep!

If you thought I was done with trolls, you were very, very wrong.

I didn't really draw the bottom lip in the sketch so I had to do a little fiddling around with the jaw.

crazy for cult!

Thanks to everyone who came by the Crazy for Cult opening at Gallery 1988 this weekend. The show is up for another month or so and is definitely worth checking out. My contribution was based on the movie Leon the Professional, which rules. And hark! this painting is for sale online or at the gallery! Blessed be the day!

Also! Gallery 1988 has just put out an art book of some of the Crazy for Cult highlights, and I've got a piece in it. Take a gander!

inspiration in weird places...

I must have been drunk one night when I noticed this pattern in our hardwood floor, because I've been staring at this floor for years without any sign of a brain wave. Anyway, after the first time I saw it, I couldn't stop seeing it, so finally I gave up trying to ignore inspiration and made a doodle of what I had envisioned...

Here's the thumbnail, aaaand below is what I made of it. All digital, for a change! I worked on it here and there over the past couple weeks, mostly when I had something else that I was supposed to be doing.

Hope you enjoy!

crazy for cult wip!

Hello! Whet your whistles with a wip of my painting for the next Crazy for Cult show at Gallery 1988, which opens this Friday. These shows are always the best kind of crazy - hence the name - so don't miss it if you're in the LA area.

Can you guess which movie mine is based on?

Anyway, I'd write more, but bbq calls. Happy 4th everyone!
